This study identified key factors influencing PTG in ICU nurses who lack systematic psychological support and highlighted the importance of intentional reflection, which should be included in PTG support programs.
Abstract
Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the impact of intensive care unit (ICU) nurses’ deliberate rumination, resilience, and social support on post-traumatic growth (PTG).Methods: Participants were 201 nurses who provided direct patient care for six months or more in ICUs at a university hospital. Collected data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson’s correlation coefficients, and multiple regression analysis with IBM SPSS version 27.0.Results: There were statistically significant correlations between PTG and resilience (r=.68, p<.001), social support (r=.55, p<.001), and deliberate rumination (r=.46, p<.001). The final regression model explained 56.3% of the variance of PTG (F=37.92, p<.001).Conclusion: This study identified key factors influencing PTG in ICU nurses who lack systematic psychological support and highlighted the importance of intentional reflection, which should be included in PTG support programs.
