This work characterize a pathway wherein TORC2 and its downstream target kinase, Ypk1, act as positive regulators of autophagy by promoting the activation of the general amino acid control response during amino acid starvation, and reveals that the TORC 2 pathway regulates autophileagy in an opposing manner to TORC1 to provide a tunable response to cellular metabolic status.
