TLDR

Carnobacterium maltaromaticum C2, isolated from Brazilian smoked fish, was found to exert antimicrobial activity against Listeria monocytogenes, an important foodborne pathogen, and this study reports the first isolation of the previously predicted antimicrobial peptide carnobacteriocin X, homologous to enterococcal cytolysin.
