Abstract

This research examines a 15-level multilevel inverter (MLI) layout designed to enhance output voltage quality by minimizing Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). The Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) technique is used to find the best switching angles for a Selective Harmonic Elimination Pulse Width Modulation (SHE-PWM) method. The suggested approach effectively removes dominating lower-order harmonics while preserving the desired fundamental component, hence improving inverter performance and reducing the necessity for large filters. When compared to Whale Optimization (WOA), GWO converges faster, avoids local minima better, and has reduced THD. In particular, the simulation results show that GWO has a THD of 3.04%, which is far better than WOA and well within IEEE requirements. This shows that GWO is a better and more dependable way to optimize high-power and renewable energy applications.
