Abstract
ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze the impacts of Law 14.994/2024, known as the “Anti-Femicide Package”, in combating femicide in Brazil. The research addresses, in depth, the advances and limitations of the legislation, considering both the normative aspects and its practical application. The study highlights the innovations brought by the law, such as the classification of femicide as an autonomous crime, the harsher penalties and the procedural prioritization for cases of gender-based violence. In addition, the structural and cultural challenges that may compromise the effectiveness of the law are examined, including the need for integration between the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches, as well as the training of legal professionals. The work also proposes complementary measures to strengthen the fight against femicide, such as the creation of a national observatory to monitor the impacts of the legislation, educational campaigns aimed at deconstructing structural machismo and improvements in the collection of data on violence against women. Finally, a reflection is made on the importance of cultural change and the role of civil society and non-governmental organizations in combating feminicide, considering that legal measures, although essential, are not enough on their own to reduce the alarming rates of this crime. Keywords: Anti-feminicide Package. Law 14.994/2024. Gender-based violence.
