Garlic reduces plasma lipids by inhibiting hepatic cholesterol and triacylglycerol synthesis

The results suggest that the hypocholesterolemic effect of garlic stems, in part, from decreased hepatic cholesterogenesis, whereas the triacylglycerol-lowering effect appears to be due to inhibition of fatty acid synthesis.
